We are planning a cross country trip in our 2004 Ford Escape and wouldn’t consider taking it on the road until Mike’s Auto Repair checked it out. Mike’s Auto Repair has been taking care of our family of Fords for many years. Our 2000 Ford Ranger, 2005 Ford Taurus and our 2004 Ford Escape. He is worth the trip from Santa Ana to Huntington Beach because Mike is easy to talk to and you feel comfortable knowing your car is in good hands. Mike prioritizes the work that needs to be done, understanding my concerns and importantly budget. Check and advise for oil coming out of tail pipe and using 1 quart of oil per hour. That is one of our most concerning tows this year and extremely unusual symptoms for a 04 Saturn. Our first thought was severe engine damage. It was being towed in from the Chevy dealer and their recommendation to the customer was to tear down the engine for inspection. Once the car was at the shop and we drove it in the building there was a hellacious noise coming from the engine in the timing cover area. The first thing we checked was the oil pressure and found it low.

After inspecting the Saturn VUE, Mike decided to call Noelle directly to get a clear understanding of what happened at the dealer. It turns out that she went to the dealer for her “free” oil change service a few days ago. When her vehicle started making noise and loosing oil, she brought it back to the dealer. After their initial inspection their recommendation was to tear into the engine and quoted her a starting price of$1,200. Noelle looked us up on Google Saturn Auto Repair Huntington Beach. There she read our customer reviews and our experience with Saturns and decided to have her Saturn VUE towed to Mike’s Auto Repair.

After our initial inspection and testing the oil pressure we decided it best to start from the beginning with removing the oil filter and drain the remaining oil. There lied Noelle’s problem – the oil filter. The canister oil filter seemed to have been installed incorrectly with the tip of the canister cocked and bent to one side causing the sever oil pressure leak – lack of oil pressure in the engine causing low oil pressure. We installed a new oil filter, filled the vehicle with oil, ran the engine and test drove. The car drove without any problem.

As we explained to Noelle, these sorts of things happen occasionally when working with parts or even human error. Where the difference lies with us is how it is handled. The first thing in auto repair 101 is recheck the work that was recently done especially if it is in relation to the last repair. Many times it is something different, but again there are times when it is related.

Noelle is very pleased that her Saturn did not sustain any damage and it was quickly diagnosed and repaired by Mike’s Auto Repair. We suggested as a courtesy that the dealer should be informed of the faulty oil filter. This will protect her in case there is any unforeseen damage to the engine from their mistake and we explained professional businesses appreciate being notified when something is installed incorrectly so they can follow-up to insure that this could not happen again. Noelle agreed and will contact them, but says she is a Mike’s Auto Service customer for life.

We heard about Mike’s Auto Repair from my hair dresser. She was very happy with Mike’s service and hence so are we! Mike has worked on our 99 Chevy Impala and 95 Chevy Pickup. He kept that truck going with minimal repairs. When the air conditioning finally failed, they were able to take care of it. Today Mike’s Auto Service takes care of our 09 GMC Sierra and 05 Honda Pilot. I recommended Mike’s to my sister and he serviced and repaired her 99 Honda CR-V when she was visiting from out of state. I run a busy catering business and depend on my Ford E-150 to be safe and reliable. I appreciate the fact that Mike’s Auto Repair understands my time restraints and they have serviced my Ford E-150 thoroughly since it was new. In fact prior to the van’s warranty expiring, Mike heard a noise in the differential area while on a test drive. Taking Mike’s advice I took it to the Ford dealer for them to inspect and test drive. They claimed there was nothing wrong, but importantly Mike said get them to document their findings. At my next service with Mike’s Auto Repair, Mike noticed the same differential noise was still apparent. Mike recommended that we go on a test drive together and pointed out the noise that I actually got accustom to. I took it back to the dealer and insisted that the service writer and I take the test drive together and I thank Mike for his suggestion. Ford fixed the differential at no cost to me right before the warranty expired. I trust Mike’s Auto Repair completely to work on my van. Also my husband has had Mike’s Auto Repair work on his 1999 Dodge Durango exclusively since new. Like my Ford van, his Dodge Durango keeps on running just like it should. Erika R. That’s right I come all the way from Laguna Niguel to have Mike’s Auto Service work on my 2003 Infinity G35. My in-laws have been using Mike’s Auto Repair Service for many years and kept telling me you have to go see Mike. I finally did and now realize how I was taken advantage of by the dealer. Now I simply call and make an appointment and I am able to wait for my oil change and inspection. Recently they found I needed front and rear brakes. I just scheduled a day and time that was convenient for me to have them replaced. Mike ordered my brake pads ahead of time and worked around my schedule so I was in and out that morning. Mike’s Auto Repair Service has been taking care of all my vehicles for a very long time. I met Mike and Val when I owned my flower shop the The Flower Place in Fountain Valley. They serviced my 2003 and 2006 Chrysler Town and Country delivery vans and kept them going. Not only did I trust their service, but they were sensitive to my time restraints, so my business was never interrupted. I since closed the Flower Place to enjoy retirement, but I continue to use Mike’s Auto Repair Service for all my maintenance services and repairs on my personal vehicles. Mike’s Auto Repair Service took care of my 2000 Honda Accord before I traded it in and today he did the first oil change on my 2010 Honda CRV.
